The giraffe is the national emblem of Tanzania. And we came to understand why. I guess that I've always thought of them as pretty awkward-looking, but they are beautiful, graceful animals, with very intelligent-looking faces. We came upon this family in the Serengeti, within a few hundred yards of the great zebra and wildebeest herds.
