Hull, old English for “hill.”  A city  in Yorkshire.

Capt. Benjamin (6), Oyster River, Dover, granted 100 a. on S.W. side Lamprill River Falls 1659; taxed O.R. 1659-1664.  Jury 1657.  Lists 361a, 363abc, 47; (Lislt 331b Ben, must be Reuben; also Benjamin No. 20 in Hull Gen. p. 258).  Of Dover, he sold his Lampr. Riv. Land in Dec. 1678 and mov to Piscataway, N.J., where he had signed the agreem. 11 May 1668 and had prev. bot land.  There tav.-keeper, a busin. long carried on in the name.  Overseer of br. Hopewell’s est. 1693.  He m ab. 1668 Rachel York (Richard).  5 of 11 ch. app b. in N.H., all m. in N.J., save 3 d.y.: Elizabeth b. 5 May 1669, Grace b. 5 May 1672, Joseph b. 9 Jan 1774, Rachel b. 9 July 1676, Sarah b. 27 Sep 1678, Benjamin b. 4 Apr 1680, Temperance b. 28 Dec 1683, Tristram d. y., Tristram b 18 May 1688, Hopewell d. y.
