Frederick Reasor

January 6, 1785 – Janauary 16, 1837

Married to Sarah Kester

Father of Eunice Reasor

Frederick Reasor was the 2nd son in a family of 11 children. His parents were Michael Reasor Jr. and Anna Herbert. He was probably born in Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia; he died in Floyd County Indiana before January 16, 1837, as that is the date his will was read. The will was probated in 1838.

Presumably he came with his parents to Kentucky in 1797. The next known event in his life was his marriage to Sarah Kester. She was born July 2, 1785 in Maryland, daughter of William Kester and Eunice Pound. She was the eldest of 11 children.

Frederick and Sarah resided in Shelby County, Kentucky. She died in 1810 after two daughters were born to them:

Eunice Reasor, born March 4, 1808. Died July 18, 1858.

Sarah Reasor, born April 8, 1810. Died January 7, 1861.

On August 28, 1810, Frederick married Dortha (Dorothy) Smith, daughter of Rueben and Mary Smith. They had eight children. In September, 1820, Frederick was given a license to preach"where and when God in His providence may direct him". A few years later he is found in Floyd County, Indiana, still following his preaching profession. He was spoken of as a "hard-shelled" Baptist Minister. He performed the marriage ceremonies for a number of his children and relatives. He must have been well fixed financially, judging from contents of his will.

He died in Will Read, Floyd County, Indiana on January 16, 1837.
