Before he died Alexander Deatherage had been declared an "imbecile" and Samuel Snow was appointed his guardian. In the settlement of Alexander's estate the only distribution was to his guardian and nephew Samuel Snow.

Catherine died between January 1885 and prior to Alexander's death. (Roane Co, TN Estate Files, Alexander Deatherage-1886).
First: " In acct. with Alex Deatherage Decd. For medical attention to his wife Katie Deatherage Decd.
Jan 1885 Two visits $3.50 each. Total $7.00.............subscribed and sworn to before me this the first day of Non 1887. B H McLeallon MD, Charles Walker J P"
