(Samuel 6, James 5, William 4, William 3, John 2, Francis 1.)
Born Guilford County, North Carolina 9 April 1775, moved to Onslow County, North Carolina with his parents about 1780 and then moved to Sullivan County, Tennessee with them about 1787. He married in 1798 Nancy Mulkey, born North Carolina in 17 . In census record of 1830 she is listed as over 50 years of age; in 1840 as over 60 years of age; in both records she. appears older than her husband; in 1850 her age is given as 70 years and is five years junior to Samuel, the indications are that she was born prior to 1775 and the age given in 1850 is below actual age. They moved to Barren County, Kentucky in 1805 and he was granted 150 acres of land 23 November 1807. (Land Rec. Lib. 20, fol. 607.) They removed to Sequatchie Valley, Tennessee and settled Bledsoe County prior to 1812 where he engaged in farming, they both died during the year 1857.

Sarah: b 1803, she m and appears to have been a widow in 1830 with three children under ten years of age. She was residing with her parents at that date. No subsequent record.

Amanda Elizabeth: b 1807 Barren Co., Ky., moved to Tenn. with her parents where she m in 1826 William
Davis Carnes, b 1805, she died in 1859; he survived her and died in 1879. We have not been . able to ascertain where they lived nor to get any statements from the known living descendants as to family record. The only known children are:
Mary M. Carnes: b 1827, m prior to 1861 William Jasper Hill, b 1827, he died in 1879 and she died in 1901, residence not stated. They had, known:
William Walter Hill: b 24 Oct. 1861, m 2 June 1892 May, daughter of Isaac A. Hill and Margaret A. Kendrick, b Roane Co., Tenn., 6 Dec. 1871, residence not stated. They had:
Ivy Hill: b 189 . Is a member of D. A. R., resides Harriman, Tenn. Has ignored all requests for information tho several different parties have tried to get some statement.
Pauline Hill: b 189 , m William Rayborn Massey, they had a daughter, Margaret Kendrick Massey.

Nancy Pearl Hill.
Amanda Carnes: said to have m George Rogers. (The information as to name and marriage of this child is second hand and from a source not connected with the family and is therefore not vouched for as authentic. No residence stated and we have not been able to verify anything of it.)

Emily Matilda: b 1812 Bledsoe Co., Tenn., m prior to 1837 John H. Acuff, b Tenn. 1811, son of Nancy Acuff, b Va. 1786, father’s name not known, Nancy was living with her son, John, in 1850, and resided Bledsoe Co., Tenn. Emily M, died in 1847 and he m (2) prior to 1850 Mary Jane Owings, b 1823 in Roane Co., Tenn., resided Bledsoe Co., Tenn. where he died in 1876, she survived him and died in 1893, several children by the second marriage of whom no record. They had:
Samuel J. Acuff: b 1837.
Robert D. Acuff: b 1840.
Jasper S. Acuff: b 1842 Tenn., m prior to 1865 Nancy Jane, daughter of Rev. James Davis Billingsley, No. 214, born 6 July 1846, resided Bledsoe Co., Tenn., both were living in 1880.. They had, known:
James Davis Acuff: b 1865.
William L. Acuff: b 1868.
E. T. Acuff.: b 1871 (son).
Mary A. Acuff: b 1874.
Caroline E. Acuff: b 1877.
John E. Acuff: b 1879.
Darius M. Acuff: b 1844, m Mary Ellen Kendrick, both deceased in 1931; residence not stated and only known child is:
Emma Acuff: b 18?? . She resided Rockwood, Tenn. in 1931, gave names of her parents and grand parents and stated she knew nothing more.
Nancy Ann Acuff: b 1847.
Samuel Joseph: b 1815 or 16, was living in 1830, no subsequent record.
