Aaron Mershon served as private in the war of the Revolution, enlisting in Capt Ben jamin Van Cleve's Co, First Regiment, Hunterdon Co, New Jersey Militia Brigade, General Nathaniel Greene's Division, Continental Army.

Aaron Mershon entered the army June 14, 1776, for five months, and was killed Aug 27, 1776 at the Battle of Long Islands or Brooklyn Heights.
