Born 3 October Bledsoe County, Tennessee. He married prior to 1830 a Miss Anderson, born Tennessee circa 1809. A statement by Andrew C. Myers of Tennessee in 1930 says: "Sam married a society woman who loved to go to dances and such like, Sam did not approve of this; he moved West in the early 1840's, and I do not think he carried her with him.
He migrated to Arkansas about 1841-42 and located in Clark County and engaged in farming. In 1850 he is listed with a wife named Nancy born in Kentucky in 1812, from the differences in the ages of the 3d and 4th child she is probably his 2d wife.
They disappear from this County before 1860, they may have been deceased or may have returned to Tennessee. While three grand sons have been located they do not appear to know anything of their grandparents names or where they resided.

Martha Jane: b 1834 Tenn.
John Benjamin Franklin: b 1844 Ark. (2d wife ?). He married about 1866 in Clark Co., Ark. Martha Lodema Thomas, b Ala. in 1844. She died in 1885 in Ark., he moved to Lamar Co., Tex., where he died in 1887. They had:
Martha Elizabeth: b 1868 Ark., died aet. 17 years.
Child: b 187_ , died infancy.
Basil Nelson: b 12 Mar. 1874 Clark Co., Ark. He was reared in the home of his grand parents Thomas in Clark Co., Ark.
He married 10 June 1902 at Prescott, Ark., Nora Belle Forbis, b 23 Jan. 1881,
reside Slaton, Tex. He was furnished information on the family but owing to the early deaths of his parents it was very limited. No children. They have:
Grady Pauline: b 19__, adopted
Child: b 187 , died infancy.
Henry L.: b 1879, died aet. 9 years.
Leona Rebecca: b 1847. vi Telitha Ledoma: b Sept. 1849.
