1 Apr 1761 Deed Theophilus Phillips, Maidenhead, Hunterdon, NJ, yeoman, sells
to Henry Mershon, Maidenhead, yeoman, 20 acres of land and
messuage in Maidenhead, being part of the plantation where
Theophilus Phillips now lives. Land is bounded by Samuel
Hunt and Henry Mershon lands. Witnesses: John Bainbridge
and Azarh. Hunt, [upper left part of second page destroyed],
1 Apr. 1763 Deed Henry Mershon, Maidenhead, Hunterdon, NJ, yeoman, sells to
Benjamin Mershon, Maidenhead, yeoman, 20 acres Meadow
Lot that Henry purchased from Theophilis Phillips in 1761.
Also, 144/4 acre plantation on road from Trenton to Princeton
that Henry purchased from Samuel Hunt in Maidenhead. The
lands are exclusive of a lot conveyed by Samuel Hunt's father,
Ralph Hunt, deceased, for use of the Presbyterian Congregation
in Maidenhead, where the Presbyterian Meeting House is built.
Included in the sale are all houses, out houses, barns, stables,
buildings, gardens, orchards, fences, meadows, mines, minerals,
woods, underwood, ways, water, water courses, fishings,
fowlings, hawkings, huntings rights, royalties, liberties,
privileges, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever.

21 May 1897 [1723] Letter WfilliamJ Mershon. Rahway, NJ, to the County Clerk of
Somerset County, Somerville, NJ, enquiring about deed to
Henry Mershon dated 15 Jan 1723. Reply from the county
clerk at bottom: all records prior to 1780 burned by the British.
The above documents were willed to the Association of the Descendants of Henry Mershon, Inc., on
21 September 1937 at Trenton, New Jersey, by Hope Lord Mershon, granddaughter of John Stockton
Mershon (1788-1835).
All names are bolded Names in italics indicate signatures. Documents inventoried 31 July 2006 by Noel R. Barton at
