A German resource says that "Johan Jacob Nauman" (father Johannes Nauman) was born 28 Feb 1712 in the Evangelish (Evangelical Church) in Breidenbach, Oberhessen, Hesse Darmstadt, which was in a sovereign country, the "Grand Duchy of Hesse" at the time.

GRid=36984471, hard to read headstone. There's a good bit of writing, which I think is in German. His name is inscribed on the stone as "Johan Jacob Naumann"
