Some brief "hint"
  1. Regarding this site and this documentation
    1. Robin's Roots refers to my (Robin Richmond's) family tree/genealogy website.
    2. "TNG" is the name of the commercial software package that runs on my web server and drives Robin's Roots. When I refer to features of Robin's Roots, I am generally referring to features of TNG, but sometimes I am referring to features that I have implemented as extensions to TNG. The differences are relevant only to people who also use other TNG sites.
      1. Relatively unknown but handy features of web browsers
        1. Well, first, your "web browser" is the software you are using on your device to browse the Internet (or, more accurately, browse the World Wide Web). Many people have more than one web browser on their devices, and choose different web browsers at different times for different tasks, and many people just "go to the Internet" without really being aware of what their browser is. You don't have to know which web browser you are using; most of the time, all you need to know is that you are using a browser.
        2. These keyboard shortcuts apply to devices with a keyboard and mouse, and work in essentially all web browsers, on virtually all web pages:
          1. You can scroll the mouse wheel while holding down the control key (or the command key on Apple computers)to zoom in or out on the web page,
          2. Hitting control-plus and control-minus also zoom in and zoom out.
          3. When you are entering information into a multi-line input box, you sometimes run out of room, and have to have have scroll up and down or left and right to keep going. However, if there is a little triangle in the lower-right corner of the input box, and if there is enough room on the screen, you can grab that triangle and drag it to make the box larger.
          4. Web browsers can open multiple "windows" and/or multiple "tabs" in one window. Sometimes hyperlinks automatically open a new tab or window. And sometimes, it is handy for you to keep your place on the page you are looking at, and to open a new tab or window yourself:
            • Use control-click to open the target page in a new tab in the current window,
            • Use shift-click to open the target page in a new window web page in a new window or tabeb browsers

If you have any questions or comments about the information on this site, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
