Excerpted from "Aert Pieterszn Tack" by Frans Gouverneur, New Netherland Connections Vol. 7, page 29 (2002): 7:29-30
Aart Pietersen Tack (chr. 26 July 1626 at Roman Catholic Church, Etten, North Brabant, The Netherlands; d. aft. 1664, New York)

Exerpts from Frans Gouverneur's article "Aert Pieterszn Tack"

[[Notes in brackets are by Robin Richmond]]
  • His baptismal record says "On the day of 26 June,Baptised Arnoldus, son of Peter Peterszn and Maria Anthonisdr"
  • 1639, Feb 24. Quirijn Anthonis Quirijnssen, as guardian, and Cornelis Peeterssen Tack, as overseeer, of the orphans of Peeter Peeterssen Tack, named Cornelis, Aert and Peter, by his late wife Maijken Anthonis Quirijnsdr, make an agreement that the father will raise his children properly
[I think that this must mean that the children are orphaned with respect to their mother, and their father, Peeter Peeterssen, commits to his father-in-law and brother that he will raise the children properly.]]
  • 1647, Oct 12. The house, barns, lands etc. of the late Anneken Jans van Goorl, widow of Anthonis Quirijnssen, [[Aert's mother-in-law]] is divided... Aert is still living in Etten.
  • 1652, May 15. contract between Adriaen van der Donck and Aert Pietersz Tack for 100 guilders per year [[Aert is still in the Netherlands]]
  • 1655. June 21. Arent Pieterszen, pltf. vs. Adriaen van der Donck, deft.. in New Amsterdam.
  • ?1660 Aert Pieterszen Tack married Annetje Adriaens from Amsterdam. We know that on Aug 29, 1645 in the Old Church of Amsterdam was baptised Annet, daughter of Aerjan Janss and Geertje Jans...we don’t know if she is the Annetje who married our Aert.
  • 1660 Oct 23. Aert Pieterszen Tack paid part of an inheritance from his grandfather Teunis Crijnen, to Jan Henrix van Bael; Aert was then residing in Rensselaerswijck
  • 1661 November. Aert Pieterszen Tack is mentioned on a beer and wine excise taxlist for Wiltwijck.
  • 1663, May 9. Aert Peetersen Tack appears before the Schepenen in Etten..[[He is back in the Netherlands]]
  • 1664, Jan 20. Aert Tack, is recorded on the ship list of De Trouw (The Faith) [[Arrived in New Netherland on April 21, 1664]]
  • 1664, Aug 21. Anneke Adriaens is granted letters of divorce and permission to marry another man. Aert fails to appear.
  • 1669, Feb 4. Adriaentien Adriaan Thonen, widow of Peeter Peetersen Tak sells a piece of land. In the record are mentioned the children of her late husband Peter and Adriaen; Aert Peeters Tak being ‘uijtlandigh’ (out of the country). [[I don't know whether it was known that Aert was still alive in what was then New York, but I'll treat this as the last record of his life.]]
