Elizabeth Keebler Bacon's Bible Register

The Bible, which she bought in the 1830's, is now in the possession of her great*4 granddaughter.

Elizabeth Keebler Bacon acquired this Bible in the 1830's and made several entries into the register. She later gave the Bible to
  • her granddaughter, Elizabeth Bacon Richmond (1861-1946), who gave it to
  • her granddaughter, Ann Richmond Sewell (my aunt), who graciously bequeathed it to me, whereupon I gave it on to
  • Ann" s="" granddaughter="" and="" elizabeth="" keebler's="" great*4,="" sewell="" geiger.<="" li="">

The Bible is now in a loose-leaf binder, with all pages encased in plastic. Unfortunately, the register is missing. I fear that it may not have found its way back after Aunt Ann copied it for me, probably in the 1990's.

The register languished in my files for quite a while, but I rediscovered it when I was looking for a source for her husband's (Jacob Bacon's) birthdate. The register also solved the mystery of which of three Bradley County Jacob Bacons, was their son. The register states

"Jacob Bacon departed this life December the 2 1864 age 2 he was born in the year 1837 he was killed at the fight at Franklin he died a soldier at his post."
It also gives a different birth year (1797) than a different Keebler family Bible (1799), and a different marriage date (4 Oct 1821) than county records (2 Oct). The marriage date discrepancy could certainly represent the difference between the marriage license and the marriage itself.
