Mrs. Horton, 101, pioneer resident of Hardeman County passed away this morning at 7 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Jess Williams of the Williams High community northwest of Quanah. She had been ill since September when she suffered a fall at her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Church of Christ in Quanah and interment will be in the Quanah Cemetery. Rev Garner of the Church of Christ and Rev Ernest McCoy of Childress will officiate.

Mrs. Horton came to Quanah in 1889 and has made her home in this county since that time. Her 100th birthday was celebrated in 1944 with an all day open house at the home of her daughter Mrs. Williams. She was born in Helena Arkansas in 1844 ,and in 1872 she was married at Bethel Springs, Tenn to John Horton, who passed away in 1912. Surviving Mrs. Horton are the following: a daughter, Mrs. Williams of Quanah and four sons, Tom Horton of Tucumcari New Mexico, Charlie Horton of Ceevee Texas, John Horton of Lambertsville Michigan, and Edgar Horton of Quanah.
