- [S202] Newspaper: Anderson (Indiana) Daily Bulletin, June 8, 1953, p1, DAR To Honor Grave of Soldier's Daughter June 13,1953 p2, Descendants of Revolutionary Daughter Attend DAR Ceremony.
(1) Biographical story of Mary (Polly) Arbuckle Nelson, daughter of Revolutionary War-era soldier William Arbuckle.
(2) Story about a DAR ceremony at Mary Nelson's grave, honoring the notion that she was the only daughter of a Revolutionary War veteran buried in Madison County.
(Whether William Arbuckly actually was a "Revolutionary War" veteran in dispute, though he definitely served as a Private at the 1774 Battle of Point Pleasant, which was, in a meaningful sense, a precursor to the American Revolution)
The two articles have essentially the same geneological information and make essentially the same historical errors.
