Transcription of Letter from Lee Hutcheson to JM Hutcheson

Letter from Leander Travis Hutcheson to his brother-in-law and cousin, James MacDonald Hutcheson. Lee Hutcheson had moved to Spencer from his farm in Bledsoe County, where Mack Hutcheson still lived. Transcribed by Jan Coffman Davenport
Spencer March 11, 1907

Mr. J.M. Hutcheson

Dear Bro,

I aimed to have written you by Earl and Lula, but was crowded until I didn’t have time. I guess you would as well sell my wheat to Mansfield and Rigsby and take the note if they don’t want to pay down for it. if they will still give you the price they offered or more get as much of it as you can and let them have it if they will haul it free of charge and I would rather you would see it weighed if you can.

Have you sold any of my hay yet, if so how much. There are some parties here wanting some hay and talk like they would go over there after it if I will sell it to them. Sell my corn anytime you have chance to get money for it or to get it soon from parties you know will do to trust. What is it selling at now. Sell mine as it comes and don’t allow anyone to pick over it or sort it.

Lula told me today that Earl wrote her that Pa was sick and right bad off. If he should be and get dangerously bad I want you to let me know it and I will drop business and go to him unless I happen to be sick or ailing as I was when Jim died and when Eva and Willie lost their baby. I heard that Cena is better of pneumonia. Hope she will get well soon. She has her hands full and I sympathize with her. Hope this will find you all well.

All are well,
Your Bro
LT H

P.S. I enclose some postals so that you can keep me posted about my business. How does wheat look?
