Map of Reading, PA in the 1750's showing Adam Wirtemberger's lot

My 7th great grandfather Johann Adam Wuertemberger immigrated from The Palatinate (now part of Germany) to Philadelphia 1751, and had purchased a lot in Reading by the mid 1750's.

The home was at 335 Clement St (which is now S. 9th), between Richard St (now Franklin] and Hamilton St (now Chestnut) in the lower right corner of the map. The neighborhood is urbanized today. In 2020, the lot is approximately between the Golden Bowl Restaurant and a Family Dollar Store.

The Trinity Lutheran Church they attended is still at 527 Washington St, about 7 blocks away.  A log building was built in the early 1750's. Adam's son Adam would have been christened in that building. Adam Sr died in 1782 in nearby Cumru and Adam Jr had moved to Virginia by 1800, but the family may have attended church in the brick building that was constructed in 1792, and that is still standing.
