Henry Mershon, a Huguenot, son of Henri Merchand of Normandy, France, came to New Amsterdam in 1685. He married there and removed to Newtown, Long Island, where he is recorded in the census of 1698 as Henry Marhsan, family of three; about 1700 he removed to Maidenhead, New Jersey, and is buried in the old Maidenhead burying ground outside of Lawrenceville.

Followed by genealogy of several generations of the Mershon family.
